Hiya folks,
I CAN NO LONGER EDIT MY ORIGINAL POST FOR THIS (here: http://forum.talkingmachine.info/viewto ... =9&t=36089), SO I'VE BEGUN A NEW LISTING.
FREE TO A GOOD HOME - LOCAL PICK UP HEMLOCK, NY 14466.
NO REPRODUCER IS BEING PROVIDED AT THIS "FREE PRICE."
IF YOU WANT A REPRODUCER FOR IT, I HAVE A PERFECTLY FINE AND HISTORICALLY CORRECT ONE FOR $175.*
*(Gold plated reproducer #88,485 with GOOD stylus, sounds very nice, too, imho. $175 - the price I wanted for the complete machine. You can always find your own, and take a chance with an ill-fated stylus. See how this works?)
Full disclosure: This machine has been assembled from good spare parts (NO JUNK!) that I've acquired over the past several years (during my ongoing research of the C 250/C 19), so read carefully. This is a good, strong running machine. Yes, you'd have to tie a pork chop around its turntable compartment to get the dog to play it, but don't be fooled by it's fugliness appearance.
This would make a great beginner's machine, and oak Chippendales are certainly more desirable from a collector's perspective than mahogany, so the effort to restore it would certainly make sense - for someone talented in the cabinetry "arts". I am not one of those people. Metal working, YES. Wood working, NO THANKS!
The GOOD:
- Oak cabinet from a donor C 250, dated by paper label inside the horn cavity as 9-16.
- Mechanism from C 19 #75,339 with the horn from C 250 #23,481. (It's a long story). Motor runs great! Smooth, quiet, and consistent.
- Scarce "Transitional" record storage compartment drawers featuring the individual vertical "slots", from C 19 #75,339, in VERY GOOD condition!
- Comes with an "E" key in good condition.
- Both locks function properly.
- I have installed a set of "10/12" record size selectors on it.
- ALL 4 feltoid casters are present.
The BAD:
- Cabinet is in relatively poor, BUT STURDY AND STABLE, condition - it will need to be re-veneered on the sides and rear, and adequately refinished. The front is in great condition. It is NOT falling apart by any means. Honestly, there ain't nothin' wrong with this machine.
- Cabinet is missing some trim pieces, but some replacements are included to help with any restoration efforts.
- Missing record storage door ball/spring catch. ALL other hardware is present.
PM or email me with any inquiries.
Best regards,
Fran
AGAIN: NO REPRODUCER IS BEING PROVIDED. THE ONE SHOWN CAN BE PURCHASED SEPARATELY FOR $175 (see * above)

I can't take the credit, several people came together to make this work.alang wrote:Well done!

It's just another testimony of the generosity of our community. It makes me happy to be a small part of it, and God knows I've been a recipient of that generosity plenty of times, myself!
I hope the new owner enjoys it for a very long time.
Cheers,
Fran
