I had these listed in 2018. Now is a year later. Any offers?
Should I:
Paint them barn paint white & repurpose them on Craigslist?
Make them the offering for the Union show weekend bonfire at Fox River Grove?
Come on collectors of the tri-state area. If you think your typical small table top Victrola’s are lame try one of these. Even with a #2 sound box they’ll knock your socks off!
Yes two for the price of one. HMV 109 table grams. Great project or projects!
Unfortunately no HMV #4 sound boxes. But any Victrola sound box will fit except the Orthophonic.
Both have the long folded curved horn.
Don’t be afraid of these foreign machines. They use the same double spring motor as the majority of 1920’s Victrola's. Same style of crank as only one comes with the deal.
Pickup or delivery to the Union possible.
Glenn

These are great little machines- if you want an Orthophonic- type machine but don't have the floor space this is what you want- not quite the fullness of a Consolette but very close - and light enough to be easily carried. HMV designed these with such tight tolerances that there is a shallow notch cut on the inside of the lid to allow it to close over the edge of a 12 inch record. If you don't have a #4 soundbox you can get decent results with the #2.

I'm bursting at the seams, but if I weren't, I'd buy these. The performance from these would make any Victrola IX, etc. absurdly obsolete.
I share your confusion at how excellent-performing machines are undervalued while some crude record-eaters in fancy cases get bought for their visuals/status. It's just a matter of priorities to collectors, I suppose. But if you really want an excellent sounding machine with excellent tracking (tracking is important to me for record groove preservation) along with well-made, logical horns (not just cast iron necks or raw wooden baffles), these are the way to go. A UK #4 soundbox wouldn't even be much of an expense via UK Ebay, and it would be worth it, since you can play electrical recordings quite well and fairly guilt free with one. Very tempting, indeed.

I’m a little confused. Are the machines complete, minus one crank and reproducers?

I had to put in a PM. I'm moving this August & might be interested in one of them--no room for 2, but 1 would probably be doable.

Cool! At least somebody's getting some nice gramophones then.
The question now is, what soundbox???

I hope so too. You go for the one in nicer condition, I am fine with projects (IF Mr Damfino59 decides to split up the pair.)
Possibly I'll actually have something to play those classical sets without my 1914 Vic nibbling the grooves--might end up retiring my early Victrola & Victor to acoustic-only duties, as they were intended originally.
