FOR SALE: Two (2) 1909 Columbia BI Sterlings - $2,500

Post by SteveM »

I'm selling my two BI Sterlings ONLY to fund the HMV 32 that Georg is kindly working on for me, and which will just fulfill my gramophone-y need a bit better right now.

These machines were restored by Tim Fabrizio in fall 2016. Here are some of his words about the resto:

"I just spent three hours meticulously polishing one of the nickel plated horns. And you can literally see your face in it! Ouch! My arm is about to fall off! I did my usual OCD thing -- I became especially obsessed with the soundboxes -- quite a bit of fussing to be sure they could accept anything from loud to soft tone needles, which is by no means a given with these Columbia spring-clip needle bars. Also getting the soundboxes tweaked knowing the type of music you wanted to play . Both motors have brand new springs.Plenty of ooomph. No. 1 has original decals, No. 2 the hand-crafted decals of my buddy the decal specialist, under the finish, totally indistinguishable from originals. The two machines are literally the spit and image of each other, and scrupulously clean and well-regulated. Fun project!"

They've brought a LOT of joy to a lot of people in the short time I've had them.

The ONLY issue ... one of the machines is missing the nickeled ball on the end of its brake plunger. There's now a knurled brass sleeve doing the job very well.

For pick up only. I live an hour west of Philly. 2 ½ hours SW of NYC. Near Reading and Allentown.

$1,400 each or hey, why not both for $2500? (Just to note: Cost of the resto was ~$4000, and I'll provide that invoice.)

I'll add more photos, but I wanted to get the ad up now, in case you wanted to take a nice drive in the country this long Memorial Day weekend.

Thanks,
Steve

These are both still available. Feel free to make me an offer!
