For your consideration from my early disc collection, this is an extremely rare and historically important 1900 7 inch IMPROVED RECORD representing the very FIRST commercially released recording by Eldridge R. Johnson. Recorded in November 1900 and assigned catalog number A-1, this is recording pioneer, George Broderick, reciting Eugene Field's poem, "Departure" on the short lived "Improved Record" label. The poem is a lament featuring a father's sorrowful parting words to his beloved son as he (the son) is awaiting departure on a train.
The record plays very well from start to finish with some noise at the very beginning during the announcement.
You will search for many years to find another original copy of this historic recording.
PM with interest. USPS Priority Mail will be included.
Thanks,
Doug
