Here is a very wonderful and interesting piece of engineering history. This was on he A Edison dynamo dating to approximately the mid 1890s. I used this in our little museum to demonstrate how early Phonographs with electric motors worked. Great piece with wonderful pin striping and maroon paint. These were used to power toys, small fans, etc, and it was suggested by one collector that the pin striping and refined paint job could indicate one used for demonstration, but there is no provinance for that. Usually you see these in black and a bit later with a more manufactured feel. Works with a 9V battery snd comes with a contemporary switch made to look period. One of the wood discs on the top is chipped but pretty good looking piece for its age. Check out pictures closely for condition and feel free to ask questions. Truely a great piece of history.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't a "dynamo" supposed to generate electricity instead of using it?

I thought so too, but it was explained to me that somehow it is or was. Maybe Dynamo motor is more correct. I think at this point though it's off the market anyways.
