FREE: Nice, but empty, Victor 8-60 Cabinet

Post by PeterF »

I have a very nice Victor 8-60 cabinet. It is in excellent condition, other than the fact that it is been externally refinished so that the overall look is a lighter wood than normal. It has no hardware, other than the lid and door hinges. The 8-60 model is essentially the same as the Victrola Credenza cabinet, except it originally contained an electrically-amplified system that then fed the Orthophonic horn. There is no horn in this cabinet. It retains its tonearm board, which has all the right holes in it for switches and volume control, etc.

So here is the deal: I’m willing to haul it down to the CAPS show in LA this weekend from SF and give it to you free, but in exchange for pre-paid gas money. The gas money is essentially a way to ensure a commitment on your part - I do not want to have to haul it back, and I also don’t want to leave it on the curb.

You can use this for many things:

- replace your beat up credenza or 8-60 cabinet with a better, new one

- recreate an 8-60 with parts you can somewhat easily find

- make yourself a credenza-matching, high capacity record cabinet

- spray paint it white and scuff it up for use as a shabby-chic bar

I’m kidding on that last one.

Ok let me know!
