For Sale: Edison GM Grand Opera Cylinder Lot - $400 OBO

Four of them with matching lids. One has two stressed grooves (#43), the rest llook like they could use light cleaning and are in excellent condition. I've not played nor cleaned them. Some of them don't appear on Popsike and the ones that do only show one or two ever having sold. I'm also assuming the low catalog numbers means they're very early.
There's also one empty box with lid (#12).
All four cylinders plus the empty box and insured shipping in the continental US = $400 or best offer.

The higher numbers actually are less common, as they were on sale for a shorter period. The Grand Opera cylinders had their own numbering series, with a "B" prefix, beginning as 2-minute and running on into the four-minute era; I think the first 2-minute ones were issued in 1906. At least, that's the date I'm seeing on one reputable site for no. B-2.

Too bad no. 43 is damaged, as it's one of the two I don't already have. If you split the group up later, I'd be interested in the other, no 21, the Bach-Gounod "Ave Maria" sung by Marie Rappold. Incidentally, she went on to re-record it, with violin obbligato by Albert Spalding, as wax Amberol 28005 (which I do have). They did it yet again for diamond disc, issued as 82536. I think it may have been issued under another number in that format as well, but I'd need to check to be sure.
