I have an elderly friend who has just received a terminal diagnosis, and he asked me to sell his small collection. I'll be listing 4 machines in ascending order of value, a custom-made record cabinet, and just over 260 cylinder records. These items are priced to sell, while hopefully bringing my friend a fair return. He realizes that prices are down.

My friend bought most of these machines from me 10 years ago. He has very little mechanical ability, so I made sure everything worked well. The machines are at his home, but before I deliver them to their new owners I'll go over each machine again to be sure all is right.

Any of these machines can be delivered by me to the Wayne NJ show on Oct. 12 & 13. I can also bring any machines to the Union show in June 2020. I have a number of friends who travel pretty regularly, and we can probably make arrangements for delivery through them as well.

The first (and least expensive) machine is an Amberola 30. Seldom do antique phonographs survive in such excellent, untouched condition as this one. The original wood grained paint on the front grille is in beautiful shape, as is the interior black enamel, and the beautiful oak cabinet. All that was necessary to restore this example 10 years ago was lubrication and a reproducer adjustment. The Diamond C Reproducer performs flawlessly, as does the entire machine. There was no sign that the motor had ever been removed, and there is little or no wear on this motor. Amberola 30s cannot be found in better condition than this one. I'll even dust it!

My friend wanted an Amberola 30, and commissioned me to find the nicest one I could. I brought this one back for him from the Union show 10 years ago, and it cost substantially more money then. Price: $400

Nice machine. Only want to add the reproducer is a Diamond C not a Model C. Big difference!

I wouldn't blame her. Blame the radiance of that Edison phonograph! What nice condition.

I didn't think there were many of these left in nice shape. Usually Amberola 30s are the little machine sending us all scrambling for wood veneer, planks, Japan lacquer, and new Rutkowski grills. It's so pretty like this--I can see why they sold so well.

I must say the present images don't do it justice. Tomorrow I'm visiting my friend and taking a camera with me. More images to follow...
