SOLD: Scarce Edison 52414 Posey Rorer N.C. Ramblers -$50

Post by FellowCollector »

Very scarce Edison DD by Posey Rorer And The North Carolina Ramblers: "AS WE SAT BENEATH THE MAPLE ON THE HILL" and "I'LL MEET MY MOTHER AFTER ALL". There are scratches and scuffs and wear on both sides. Only example I've ever found. I've played the Maple side only - all these years. Expect some noise and pops but the old time singing by Posey Rorer along with fiddle and guitar beckon to earlier days. PM. Paypal friends. -Doug

The Maple side lyrics are simply wonderful:

In a quiet country village stood a maple on the hill
Where I sat with my Jennie long ago
As the stars were shining brightly we could hear the whippoorwill
As we sat beneath the maple on the hill
We would sing love songs together when the birds had gone to rest
And we'd listen to the murmur of the leaves
Then you'd throw your arms around me lay your head upon my chest
As we sat beneath the maple on the hill
Now we're getting old and feeble and our hair is turning gray
We no longer hear the rippling of the leaves
Still I'll always love you darling as I did those starry nights
When we sat beneath the maple on the hill

I hope you sold that to Kinney Rorer in Virginia...
