SALE: CLARKE TALK-O-PHONE

Post by erunltd »

Offering a fancy case Clarke Talk-O-Phone disc phonograph. This has been restored (as opposed to just working). The case has not been refinished which is a decision left to the new owner. Everything works as it should including the original Talk-O-Phone reproducer which has new gaskets so the sound is loud and clear. The two-spring motor is in great shape and all gears are sharp and show little or no wear. The horn measures 21" long. A great addition to your collection. Shipping will require two boxes.

Price: $1695.00 Shipping is extra . . . first posted SOLD

Umm...

Has the speed control been changed, and a brake added? :?
(At least, my Talk-o-phone has a different speed control, and no brake: you stop it by turning the speed to 0)

Great question.

This Clarke is a bit unique as it did not have the typical curved speed control. As far
as I can tell there are no incorrect holes so it appears the Victor type speed control
was always on this machine. The brake has the same story, no change in hole
locations. The brake appears to be similar to a zonophone brake but does not
have the pressure spring we typically see. It's an odd one.
