The Good, The Bad and The Ugly base plate...

Post by 1923VictorFan »

I'm not sure that I'm listing this in the right place but anyway. I don't know that I will ever actually buy a Columbia Type:A but this one is currently on eBay. My question is how typical or horrible is the condition of the base plate shown in the photo below? Maybe this is typical wear for a machine of its age? The wood case is in great condition, I just can't get past that base plate.

I bought one at auction a while back that was much worse. I had it re-plated at Specialty Metal Finishing in Houston. It looks great.
