Hmm, I dont think it's an Idelia case either. It's close, but I'm not sure what it is.
Maybeyou should start a new thread in the general section and post the pic. Someone will know what it is for sure.

Re: how much would a wrecked opera cost?
from what i can see the corner colums are missing but on the winding hole (one of the few metal parts left on the case) it has the what looks like same oxidisation as a idella but i dont know if a opera also had this (it is hard to take a clear picture, unfortunately the carrying handles are missing which would have gave a clear indication if it was a idella or not

Re: how much would a wrecked opera cost?
Well it appears to have had the same handles as an Idelia, but the moulding around the bottom of the case is different.
A friend of mine has the earlier IDEAL, which was only made for 2 months before the name was changed to Idelia, but I cant remember if the bottom moulding was the same on both machines or not. I'm fairly certain it is.
If your moulding is original to the case, you may have some early rare cabinet variation.

well i am pretty sure it isnt a opera now, if this is a idella or ideal or possibly a alva what do you think the case would be worth? i am probably not going to sell it but i might if it is worth something
i will start a new thread trying to identify it

Re: how much would a wrecked opera cost?
If you have a small budget to begin with, completing an Idelia isn't going to happen. However, if you have the case, and can verify it, then you could sell it and get yourself some.base capital to buy a fairly complete phonograph. Don't quote me, but if that were an Idealia case, its worth at least 1k usd I would bet. Maybe more. I don't want to get your hopes up, so wait for expert opinions. Anything on the underside?
