^ I'm not going to guess at J. Tefteller's personal wealth, it's none of our business. But he is in business and part of his business is buying and selling rare records which he uses to finance the purchase of some of his big ticket items. He's not simply some rich a-hole who acquires rare records like some people acquire paintings or vases as status items to stash away.

Any collectible can also serve as an investment, with varying degrees of success (just look at the losses some people took in baseball cards a few years ago). It's no different from an article about a stock reaching a record high share price, or a Picasso selling for millions at auction.

Also, one spectacular sale like that can raise the price of records around it too. Others by the same artist, or the same genre and era, may have gotten a boost too thanks to this one that is currently on top of the market.

^ I think Tefteller's deal is also a "labor of love" as well, know what I mean ? As he's made it work for him, apparently, so good for him.
