A big chunk of the discussions in this forum deals with fakes, adulterations and respective dealers. I also got accounts of jealous collectors/dealers that damage machines in auctions just to reduce their value. To me, this is not much different from stealing. But I agree that it is dismaying to see such thing happening in such venues, especially in such a small community.
Add to that, the game of "musical chairs" some folks play with box lots of records at auctions. I am sure many of you have looked in a box of records, found a desirable one or two in the lot, bid on the box, only to find that the nice ones are now gone. Probably salted away in a box of classical records or Perry Como records that will sell for a dollar. Nice... I don't even look at records anymore. What's wrong with people????
