Victor Talking Machine Company Rifle

Post by rgordon939 »

Here is something I never knew before. The Victor Talking Machine Co made stocks for the 1917 Enfield rifle used in World War 1. Here is a link to a rifle with a plaque stating that. It would be very interesting to learn where and when this plaque was applied. Besides from being a phonograph collector I was in the firearms business for years and never knew of the Victor involvement with the war effort. Does anyone know of any other phonograph companies that were involved and what they produced?

Wow that is awesome. Thanks for posting. This is both of my collections converging into one! (I collect WW1 and WW2 rifles).

"... for use in the world's war..."

Interesting terminology!

I think the Thomas Edison company in West Orange N.J. made bomber sites during the war (?)

The Lionel Corporation of Hillside/Irvington NJ made binnacles and other items under US gov't contracts during both World War I and II. See this goggle link: https://www.google.com/search?source=hp ... rsmG6RcIo4

I was reading some history and noticed that on November 2, 1925 the Orthophonic Victrola was formally introduced by the Victor Talking Machine Company. This post does not follow the discussion of the gun part, but the topic title fits.

Wow, that's really neat! I own a very nice Winchester manufactured U.S. Model Of 1917 (chambered 30-06) with the appropriate Winchester bayonet-- I would totally make the trade... ;)
