Maybe the person had a friend that worked at or owned the store and only had the crates and never owned the machines.
Why would one buy three very low end machines??

That's a possibility I suppose. You'd think a Doctor would have bought a Credenza, seeing as it was the TOL Orthophonic when the 4 original models were introduced. Of course there's always the possibility that they didn't care for the style. We will never know for sure. The only information I have from the seller is that they'd been up there since the 1920s when his grandparents lived there. The Victrola that was still in the house was of course neither of these models, however (and the family is keeping it).Skihawx wrote:Maybe the person had a friend that worked at or owned the store and only had the crates and never owned the machines.

How cool, Brandon! Congratulations.
I've been keeping my eyes peeled for a nice C 250 crate, myself (although I have NO idea where I'd put one).
Best,
Fran

I do have a panel from a DD machine hanging in my dining room, but it's not marked with the model (at least not on the side I got anyway). It's shorter than a C-250 though.fran604g wrote:How cool, Brandon! Congratulations.

It will probably take a lot of talking... but I think you should set your sights on adding a tourist attraction to your collection.
