FOR SALE: RARE Edison 52570 DO SOMETHING ERMINE CALLOWAY$295

Post by FellowCollector »

VERY LATE AND VERY RARE. Ermine Calloway at her ABSOLUTE BEST!! On Edison Diamond Disc #52570, this is the very risqué late 20's hit, "DO SOMETHING":

Opening lyrics:

Oh Honey, Oh,Oh Honey,
I wonder why you act so funny,
when we could be makin' love...

I'm willing, so willing
But nothing you do seems thrilling
I wait for your pettin'
But what am I gettin'?

There's the moon, way up high,
Here are you and here am I,
Ohhh! Do...Do...Do Something!

The flip side is much more tame ;) but still fantastic:

"GOODNESS GRACIOUS GRACIE" featuring Billy Murray and Walter Scanlan with one of their last and most entertaining duets on Edison. Both veteran Edison recording stars would soon fade away (like the 'Old Soldier' poem in Douglas MacArthur's famous farewell address to Congress)...old Edison recording stars NEVER die...they JUST fade away...

Both sides play great. There are some light scratches on both sides and one heavier scratch on the L-side and two on the R-side that pass through with very little audible distraction. I have played both sides on my modern turntable with lightweight tonearm as well as once through on one of my Edison A-250's and both sides play beautifully on each. L-side has a replacement label using aged (appropriate) paper.

PM with interest. Paypal friends payment. USPS Media shipping is extra.

This is a VERY difficult to find Edison Diamond Disc. I searched for many years before finding this and have never found another copy anywhere on the planet. I'm trying to trim my collection a little. If this doesn't sell I'm happy to keep. :)

Thanks.
Doug

"The phonograph† is not of any commercial value."
Thomas Alva Edison - Comment to his assistant, Samuel Insull.

"No one needs a Victrola XX, a Perfected Graphophone Type G, or whatever you call those noisy things."
