Who are The Travelers? DECCA 449

Post by CDBPDX »

Just found a nice copy of DECCA 449 featuring The Travelers. Rust says this was a pseudonym for The Dorsey Brothers on OKEH, MELOTONE, and Australian PANACHORD labels. Doesn't mention DECCA and this doesn't sound too much like the Dorsey Brothers, though there is some very nice clarinet work present in TOODLE-OO RAG.

You can hear the tunes on YouTube

Is it just me, or does everyone else love seeing the modulation of a record's groove?

It's not the Dorseys. Here's some info on it. Although it's a different catalog number it's the same record.

Appears to be a Chicago based small Western Swing combo:

Every Travelers Dorsey disc credits Jimmy Dorsey as director.

Excellent! Thanks! I will add this info to the YT descriptions. Cliff
