Is there part of a Cygnet horn in this mess?

Post by bruv »

I saw this for sale locally in an auction and can't drive to see it, but doesn't that look like the bottom half of a cygnet horn? If it goes for under $50, it might be worth picking up. I did request pictures.

I think you are right in that it resembles closely the bottom of a cygnet horn. The added support that attaches to the machine from the cygnet horn must have been added later. Is this a Path ??? It almost looks like a crapola machine but it has too much custom work on it to qualify ( my opinion ) Tom B

Yes, I think it's the small end of a Cygnet horn. But it's downhill after that. :(

That decal looks like Pathé, but is some other brand. It also has a Columbia decal. I'll add some other pictures in a bit. It is really a put together mess.

I agree that this looks like the bottom end of a Cygnet horn. Presumably there is some internal plumbing connecting it to the tonearm.

So that P word is a dealers decal. I was wondering what that really was. I thought it was another machine's side piece being it is such a mixed up mess. Thanks.

If you can believe it, this fine machine sold for $160. Wow.
