For Sale: Standard Taking Machine Model A Make me an offer

Post by Stephen_Heatherly »

I have a very nice Standard Disc Talking Machine Model A for sale. The case is in excellent shape and has it's original finish. The decal is nearly perfect. All of the hardware has been re-plated with the exception of the crank escutcheon. I forgot to give that part to the plater. It still looks very nice. The machine plays perfectly and has plenty of power to play a full record side without rewinding. The motor has been rebuilt with a new mainspring. The governor gear is brass not fibre, so no problem there. The reproducer has new gaskets and a new diaphragm. The horn is in typical condition. It has some paint loss and a few dings but, is still in nice shape. I'll include a few of the standard brand records with the machine. I will consider a partial trade for a 10 panel cygnet horn in good shape or a Columbia AA machine. I'm asking $800 for the machine. I will upload pictures tomorrow.

How did the plater redo the arm? It sure looks good.

I have no idea honestly. The plating on the machine is beautiful though.

Price dropped to $875. Machine has conversion turntable so it can play normal 78's.

I can't quite tell from the photographs. Is it possible that this machine has a regular ¼ inch spindle on the turntable instead of the ½ inch? Would make the player more versatile and possibly more appealing. Thanks! Mark
