S reproducer/ Now what

Post by Stephen_Heatherly »

I recently bought a model s reproducer for my home model a. I replaced the gaskets and the 4 minute stylus because the origional one was broken off. It plays 2 minute records great but, when in the 4 minute mode it plays very quietly. What should I check now?

Thanks,
Stephen

Stephen,

When in the 4 minute mode, look very closely at how the stylus touches the record. Is the stylus itself touching the record, or does the body of the stylus bar make contact first?

Thanks Jerry. I had Wyatt Markus repair the reproducer. It turns out the four minute stylus was loose in the bar which is what was causing the low volume and blasting. Because the bar and stylus are brand new I never would have suspected that's what could be causing the problem.
