I lucked into a rather rare Victor Red Seal Clock a few years ago and a friend on TMF gave me a copy of the record "I Hear You Calling Me" which is on the record face that shows on the clock. The only difference was the record he provided had the Victor label and the clock image shows Victrola. Well, recently I found a nice copy of the record with the Victrola label which prompted me to record it and combine it and images of the clock in a video. Below are some images of the clock and an ad from The Music Trade Review July 23, 1921 introducing the clock to dealers. The record was recorded June 16, 1921. So, though I have no proof, I suspect the label was chosen because of the newly recorded version of the John McCormack record.

I was told by the guy I bought this from that the clock had been in an old clock museum at one point. It was an inventory number and as I understand it this was a common practice at one time. I haven't attempted to remove it for fear that it might damage the clock face. I cannot imagine anyone doing that today.Roaring20s wrote:I'll second that!
