Hi Everyone! I'm a new member to the forum. Search for Reklamophon revealed zero matches, so I started a new topic. Reklamophon-, Sprech- und Musikwerke was a business of Otto Schöne from Dresden, Germany. According to the c.1906 catalog the models were: Tell, Record, Triumph, Luxus, Mozart, Undine, Tannhäuser, and the magnificent triple horn Lohegrin.

At the moment I got two models in my collection: the Tell and Mozart I. The Tell is nearly a finished project. It is a very primitive machine (similar to Thorens Bijou) with a clock work mechanism and is wound up through a hole in the turntable. The key is not original, but a generic Swiss/German one from the same period and I also machined a new record clamp from brass(needs to me nickeled) as the original was missing.

The other Reklamophon in my collection is a Mozart coin operated machine. Or at least it once was. At the moment it is missing the coin operating parts inside the box. It seems that most of these coin operated gramophones were converted to work without coins after they were withdrawn from service in cafes etc. public places.Luckily this one still has the tonearm mechanism in place. My Mozart in the pictures is still running the wrong motor, turntable and shouldn't have the mechanical brake on the top of the case, but I have a plan to restore the machine back to the factory specs. I have already managed to locate the correct bottom mounted motor from Germany and now I'm looking for information about the coin operated parts. Has any one here got a similar machine? Some of the Mammut coin operated machines use the same tonearm configuration and probably utilize similar parts inside? If I had photos of the missing parts, I could re-manufacture them and make this machine work again with Kaiserreich 10 Pfenning coins! The superb copy of the original catalog is from Joern at www.sprechapparate.de.

Regards

Jaso

Wow, unusual and very nice! Does your catalog show any other models? I have a "mystery" phonograph that has a few similarities, but not as ornate as the larger machine.

Jaso,

Here's the phonograph I was referring to; viewtopic.php?f=2&t=11749&p=66194&hilit=horn#p66194

Anything like this in your catalog?

JerryVan,

That soundbox rings the bells! The only soundbox in my collection having the same type of bezel ring attachement is the Miraphone soundbox made by Mermod Frères from Ste-Croix, Switzerland.. They had the design patented in the US. Very rare for a Swiss company! Your gramophone is definetly Swiss made. The bottom mounted motor is also typical of Miraphone. I’ll check the catalogs and get back to you.

Jaso

Those are both extremely nice, interesting machines that I would love to own... You are very fortunate to have both of them.

Finally got the correct, bottom mounted, motor for my Reklamophon ”Mozart I”! Now I have to find/manufacture the missing coin operated parts from the box.
I have a few pictures of similar setup. Has anyone here got extra parts, donor machine or better pictures/measurements?
Here is the machine with the current, lid mounted, motor.
