Columbia belt wont stay on

Post by 12jslater »

On my new Columbia BQ the belt keeps riding up onto the left flange on the madrel, however if i don't have the tensioner on the belt the issue goes away and the belt is straight.

I have ran into this problem, also. Sometimes these belts have a slight curve to either the left or right. Separate and remove the belt. Run the belt length over a table top or work bench. Run back and forth. This will stretch the belt a bit, and check to make sure that the belt is perfectly straight. To re-attach the belt, bevel the edges about ¼" overlap. Then use contact cement to hold the joint. This should work. This method also works with Edison, and other belted machines.

I have found that sometimes, simply removing the belt and reversing it (not inside-out, but right-to-left) will solve the problem.
