Sing-A-Song “voice repeater” record

Post by AmberolaAndy »

So I was browsing eBay and I noticed a listing for an odd home recording type record. Apparently you sing into your disc phonograph’s horn and it records your voice to the record. Interesting... Does anybody else know anything about these records?

That was pretty much it. Sometimes they came with a little cardboard megaphone, but the procedure was simple- the aluminum disc was already grooved and with a fresh steel needle in the soundbox you spoke or sang loudly into the horn. Playback with a fiber needle was advised. They worked well enough for one or two people to make a short intelligible record but you had to be right in front of the horn.
