Unusual Edison Disc Labeling

Has anyone come across this?

I have an Edison Diamond Disc with the etched/engraved labeling. One side is 50701 R Sweet Luana the other side is 50369 L Medley of Hawaiian Airs.

I can understand an issue like that with paper labels, but the engraved? Hmm... Alan (see photos)

I think the point of the original post is that he has a disc that has two completely different catalog numbers. I've never seen that happen. I could see it in the very early days when they pressed the Condensite and then glued it to the disk afterwards, but this disc is much too late for that.

I guess I wasn't paying attention. Sorry for that. I don't think I've seen that before.

Very odd: could this have been a mix-up at one particular press? I wonder how many copies were pressed before the mistake was caught?

If the edge is unfinished, as in rough and not ground smooth, it's a test pressing. I have several like this with different catalog numbers on each side. A few of mine have finished edges, too, but they were obviously used for tests, or possibly an employee pressing things to take home. At least one of mine has a paper label on each side with very elaborate fountain pen script listing all the info.

So my guess would be a test.
