A common problem on those induction disc motors. A couple paper shims between the coils and frame should calm down the vibration. You’ll probably notice that the hum gets quieter when the motor warms up for several minutes, too.
I'd tried soft wood shims, but have had better luck with harder bamboo shims, left over from making fiber needles. Tap them in very firmly and check your results as you go. Sometimes it takes three or four around each coil to really make it quiet.

Hadn't thought about shimming the windings. Might try that if the other stuff doesn't do the trick.

It's fixed! Very quiet, virtually no motor noise. Installed 3 each felt washers for the magnetic coils assemblies, neoprene washers for the motor mounts - top and bottom, oiled everything, but then it stalled when I turned it on. It would take up to about 15 seconds for it to turn on. Looked at the automatic shut off switch and there was gunk on one of the contact bars, the plastic lever took a few seconds to break loose from the gunk before it could start. Cleaned off the gunk and it works perfectly, now. YeeHaa!

There has been some interest in acquiring the ELECTRIC MOTOR TYPE manual. Sorry, that is staying with the phonograph, however, attached are some hi-res jpg files that will allow you to print your own copy if you want.

Thanks Cliff! It's generous of you to take the time to post these hi-res images for posterity. :)

Thanks for this post. I just bought a Victrola 8-9 with the electric motor and appreciate all the reference material here. Thanks, Marc.

Finally got some pictures of the 8-35X. Remember, this was discovered in a barn in the late 1970s still in the packing crate, sort of protected from the elements, but not completely. And the previous owner had a cat, as can be seen by the practically new looking grill cloth with cat scratches in the lower left corner.
