What model is it, and could we see better pictures of the outside of the horn and the connection at the elbow. Also what is the black strap like object around the houn?

It is a Model D , here are a few more pictures, I have seen the black band on some other Music Master Horns, This is a really nice machine all totally original other than I had to repaint the outside of the horn elbow, the inside has the original mustard colored paint to match the blonde spruce ,this machine was an attic find that I have owned for a least 20 years.

The spruce horn on my Victor 6 also has that band. I've seen it on others and I'm inclined to believe it was a feature of all spruce Music Masters.

Two things that I don’t see are the Edison Decal and the chrome ring that should be attached to the bottom of the wood bell. Could we see one more picture of the horn with the elbow separated from the bell? Thank you.

Attached are a few more photos hope they answer your questions, I have never owned another spruce horn so I have nothing to compare it to.

From my experience not all Music Master horns have this cloth band around them.

From what I have seen over the years only the rear mount and cylinder machine mount Music Master horns have the cloth band. No matter the type wood.

Cygnet horns do not have the cloth band, no matter the wood.

Now, I have heard of rear mount horns being cut down to use as Cygnet horns. Both wood and metal.

But in the end were back to what may have happened at the factory 110 years ago, when push came to shove and they needed a Cygnet horn in a hurry.

I've got a Columbia BGT with a spruce music master and it also has the band around it.
