What’s a good screwdriver for rebuilding an Edison Model C/H

Post by AmberolaAndy »

Yesterday I rebuilt my Edison Model C reproducer with new gaskets. After a couple tries, I did manage to figure it out and got it playing decently. While I had no trouble getting the stylus pin out. (Although it was a real pain in the butt to put it back in.) The biggest trouble I had was getting the hinge pin out. Using the smallest Stanley screwdriver I had, and some fussing and cussing I did manage to get it out. Although I ended up doing some damage to the head of the pin in the process. So my question is: What screwdriver do you use or recommend to get the pin out of the hinge block on an Edison model C or H? So the next time I do another Edison reproducer rebuild it won’t be such a headache!

I've never removed a hinge pin from an Edison C/H/K. I remove The stylus bar pin and the limit pin, carefully allowing the stylus bar to pass through the weight, and the weight to hang down from the tube plate. Then I simply rotate the hinge block/weight until the weight separates from the tube plate.

A bit expensive maybe, but worth it!

I'm sure eBay has some cheaper options for the same set, just be sure they're new, or like new condition.
