An interesting, short, article on HMV

Post by melvind »

I found this interesting and it hints at the demise of HMV as a brand in the UK.

Sadly the rumours are true. Today HMV confirmed that they are calling KPMG in as Administrators. Whilst the possible loss of what was once an iconic brand name is regrettable, my thoughts are with the 2200 staff at 125 stores who face the prospect of starting 2019 with redundancy notices.

The stores will continue to trade while the administrators look for possible buyers, but in this soulless digital age when so many people download music for free and carry it around in their mobile devices, the future looks bleak for HMV.

We as collectors are a race apart. We enjoy owning and handling our treasured old records. I have never downloaded a piece of music in my life.
