FOR SALE: Brunswick Lowboy - FREE

Post by gemering »

Today, I was given this victrola by a long-time friend who inherited it.
He would like me to find a good home for it.
I thought it would be nice to give it to a new collector for free.

Oh, if it were only closer to me. I have a weakness for the Brunswick consoles. They sound great!

Not to look a gift horse too closely in the mouth, but does the motor work properly? Asking for two friends who want to get into the hobby, but probably wouldn't be up for a motor rebuild on their first machine.

Maybe you could mentor your two friends if the machine needs work. This is a great opportunity to get someone interested. I have done this in the past and have been successful in sparking new interest in phonographs.

I believe the motor works fine.
There was a little bit of tension in the spring, before it wound down.
I do not have a crank to wind it up.

Somebody close by needs to grab it or pretty soon we may see it on the subforum: Crapophones, Frankenphones, Reproductions, Fakes, Scams, & Other Rubbish section!

Hey Gene, You have the right idea. I will offer for free a project phonograph to a new collector to learn on. If everybody on The Forum does this, maybe we can get more enthusiasm for early sound on mechanical music machines? Plus it will give me room for the credenza if you still have it.

I have given away several phonographs over the years and it does spark new interest.
