tramandbixrule's Hot Jazz Channel

Post by gramophone-georg »

I had a YouTube channel eons ago for phono demos. It seems to have disappeared, so I started a new one to demonstrate the Victrola VE Credenza X I have for sale (see the Yankee Trader).

Anyways... decided to start a collection of favorite records. So far all are Victors on the Credenza, but I'll be adding Columbias on the Viva Tonal 810 soon and an array of labels/ bands on different machines.

Sorry about the boring amateurishness of the videos- I'm using a 2000s digital camera. I suppose if I get really serious about this I'll need to get some actual equipment and hire dancers with a choreographer, or something. Not really- it's all about the music.

Bix Beiderbecke Orch., "Deep Down South", Victor 23018, 1930

Paul Whiteman Orch w/ Tram, Bix, Bing, "Louisiana" (t3), Victor 25369, 1928

Nat Shilkret and the Victor Orch., (likely really Leonard Joy/ High Hatters), "Bottoms Up!", 1929

Bennie Moten's Kansas City Orch. (Count Basie debut), "Rhumba Negro" Stomp, Victor 23027, 1929

Fess Williams Royal Flush Orch., "I'm Feelin' Devilish", Victor V-38131, 1930

Charles Johnson's Paradise Ten with Jabbo Smith, Benny Carter, Monette Moore, "You Ain't The One", Victor 21247, 1928

I thought he was Spanish Stompin'!

Those damn stinkbugs are everywhere this spring. No idea how they are getting in, either. I'm just thankful they're not yellowjackets.

The gnome that keeps showing up in the beginning is annoying also.

Yeah, we got 'em too, and also yellowjackets. Emerald ash borer, gypsy moth, spotted lantern fly, the works. I hope they're all susceptible to the dreaded phonograph disease---it's invariably fatal!
