Maybe Norman or Duncan can get a good copy of it on cylinder for us... (Hopeful Wishing)

It would sell like Hotcakes!
It should fit on a 2 minute cylinder. I'd be happy to upload a transfer for Norman and/or Rob, if they'd like to make a cylinder of it.

For brief: if you want a sort of shortcut to the coeur of the matter, scholar investigations involving audio frequency and spectrum analyses, combined with historical following of papers and letters about the recording, done by X, have led to the conclusion that likely the original field recording of the cannons etc. was not convincing enough to the directors at Hayes, so they decided to dub the original recording into a new master, adding drum effects to reinforce the bumps and explosions... or something alike. So the record finally issued by HMV was the dubbing.
If you want more info, follow the advice and look for gas shell bombardment in the search feature of this forum. The full article its really interesting...

Copy #1 has been made. Being 12", these were tough to make and will be $40 each and will include a copy of the label. Here's a video of it and a little bit about the making of it...
