I'd leave it as-is. God knows what the paint looks like underneath the new coat--if there's any of it left--and the repainting is part of the horn's history. It's unique, one of a kind, and the fact that you "don't have the heart to repaint it" indicates you like it--and that's all that really matters.

It doesn't look bad at all for a re-spray. To my eyes this is not a victor horn... no ribs on the panels. Am I wrong?

It is definitely unique. I am usually a preservationist myself, but if you like it keep it!

Someone went to a great deal of work to paint the horn. I would not repaint it but I'd be tempted to purchase another horn to display on that cute Victor II. I suspect most of us have a stack of spare horns. In my basement that horn would probably be there. I you don't wish to have spare horns sitting around, you have a dilemma. :? There is no correct answer. It is an aftermarket horn so there is some flexibility on paint choices. It would be very attractive with a nice opaque blue or red or ?

The paint job is not original, and if you repaint it again it will still not be original. If it was mine I would keep it as it is.
