I was speaking with a collector today who had never seen needle cups on a victor V. Mine are on the back of the bed board, one for new needles, one for spent. The holes are totally original.
Is this unusual?
Thanks.

I recall seeing pix of an accessory needle cup set up on the rear of a crank Victor. I think it was in one of the F&P books, perhaps in the Gadgets & Gizmos? I'll have to dig out my copy.

I recall seeing an after-market attachement, but I get the impression that isn't what we're talking about here?
Just saw the prior post....the whole are not original. They may be very old modfication, but I'm 99.99% sure Victor never did anything of the sort.

pg63 has a cardboard box-looking one on the back of a Vic V. The "Ideal" (R.R. Browne Speciality Co of Toledo, OH) at first and later the "Simplex" (S.B Davega Co. of NY).... Thanks as always to Fabrizio and Paul

George, it kinda scares me that I can usually find a certain item in any of your books in about 5 minutes....

Re: needle cup on vic v?`
Looking at the picture, and if there is no mention of this in the victor data book, it was most likely an aftermarket mod, probably done by the jobber.
It was probably a welcome mod as not having something convenient is quite a pain. For me, I use my L-door XVI as the needle cup holder for my Vic V (Only because they sit next to each other)
Is the finish really red under the platter, or is that just an artifact of the image?

Why do we need signatures when we are on a first avatar basis?

I guess you were supposed to buy a record cabinet to put your machine atop just for the needle cups inside the door
