what to do with a common empty victrola cabinet?

Post by edisonsclone »

I never know what to do with an empty common cabinet? Besides a bar or a stereo stand, ( which is just tacky) has anyone come up with an interesting idea?

My favorite is seeing a common VV 210 console cabinet plumbed as a lavatory sink.

Or if it is in good shape, save it until the same model with good mechanicals and a basket case cabinet comes along and make one good one.

Sell it and use the floor space for a complete Victrola...

Well, I've noticed that floor model will keep you warm longer than a table model.

Cut it down and turn it into a record cabinet (see Grahamrankins YouTube channel, his emg's are sitting on a cut down hmv 511 cabinet) this involves cutting off the top section of the cabinet where the turntable/ motor/horn would normally be, leaving the record storage part thend putting a new flat top on it then e voila, a record cabinet!

I have one I use for the obvious record storage purpose.....the person I bought it from had plans to use it as a computer station under the lid while sitting on a bar stool. Kind of quaint. Yes, I only paid her $10 for it and then mainly so she didn't yield to the temptation to use it for firewood.

How tall are you? It would make the coolest coffin. Sorry. It is Halloween, after all. Or how about making it into a bar stool. You could fix the lid to stay upright for the backrest and make a seat for the inside mid-portion.
