Re: Talking Machine Merger
As far as I know the merger was short-lived in the US. Due to anti-trust laws the new company had to sell off the US branch of Columbia part to the Grigsby-Grunow Company. Three years later (1934) that company went bankrupt and the Columbia name was bought by the American Record Corporation (ARC). I...

Re: My First 7 inch 78 record
Getting back to the question of spoken introductions: wasn't the main purpose of them to prevent other companies from pirating your issued records by simply dubbing them or just pasting a new label on them? Zonophone existed in Sweden too. Originally a German company, The International Zonophone Co....

Re: Introducing The TMF Label Gallery & Guide
John and David, I've gone through my computer and have come up with a few label scans that I've already made and which are not yet in the gallery. I will send them to David by e-mail. Also: feel free to pick those scans that I have provided to M G Thomas' "label index ( http://www.mgthomas.co.u...

Re: Lets Organize The Labels: Cameo
Thanks John, I'm well. The reason for my absence has simply been lack of time. Early this year I realized I had to either invent a 14-day week with 48-hour days or simply cut out some of my activeties if I were not to go mad from stress, and one of the things I decieded was to temporarily leave all ...

This is an absolutely amazing piece of work you've done while I've been away! Still I think I might be able to add a label or two...

Re: Happy Birthday, Fredrik!
Many but very belated thanks my friends! I know I've been away for quite some time from the board but didn't realise until now that I haven't checked in since before me birthday! I must have had a hell of a spring and summer... Fredrik PS Unfortunately the link to the "gift" no longer seem...

Re: The Man From The South
Here I am! Nice Greu Gull side that I've never heard before. It's not listed under the heading "Grey Gull studio band" in Rust's dance band discography, but that list is highly incomplete anyhow. Aurally however I'd say that it misses some of the typical trade marks of the studio band (no ...

Re: Lets Organize The Labels: Cameo
John,
The earliest Cameo I have is no. 220 and it has a label which, as far as I can see, is identical to the first one in your gallery, so if there was an earlier one it was only used for 19 issues at the most.

Sounds like an attempt to follow up and cash in on the popularity of "Oh By Jingo".
