Another large Apollo on UK eBay.

Hot on the heels of the magnificent example recently acquired and posted by Steve, here is another. These really are seriously underrated machines. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/334037457375?_trkparms=aid%3D777008%26algo%3DPERSONAL.TOPIC%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20201018205123%26meid%3Dd4140b623e5a47d0a3d2a445...

Edison C-150 for auction (Scottish Borders)

Edison disc machines are not my thing, but here is a C-150 Sheraton with original and lateral reproducers plus some discs. If it sells for anything like the pre sale estimate it could be a good buy for someone. https://www.the-saleroom.com/en-gb/auction-catalogues/border-auctions-ltd/catalogue-id-sr...

Re: Playing to the carpet.

My Expert sits in a corner on a record cabinet, and of course the horn can easily be moved from side to side.
The centre of the horn mouth is five feet above floor level, which I find ideal for listening from my armchair.
Not so easy to achieve such good results with a big internal horn machine.

Re: EMG Cheltenham

As Graham implies, there is more to this than simple incompetence. During the pandemic, the terms and conditions imposed by some auction houses have been almost wilfully difficult, as I discovered when contemplating the purchase of an Edison Opera almost 200 miles from my home. I reluctantly decided...

Re: Pathé Actuelle in Hebrew

Rafael Ruwinsky, Chief Cantor in Bucharest 1926 who happily survived the Holocaust. This was a lucky find in a job lot of records at a flea market. Collectors of cantorial records from all over the world keep asking me to sell it, but where would I find another?

Re: 'Orchorsol' question

From the portables I have seen, I think that the revolting image of the bawling infant came later. I cannot imagine how or why it was chosen, but it cannot have helped sales of what was once a name mentioned in the same circles as EMG.

Re: Edison Bell portable

Wow that's a really nice portable! What is the main difference in the 44 and 45 motor? The springs on this machine and pretty small. David I never saw the 45 motor in pieces, but when I collected it from the late great Philip Knighton he said that the springs were as thick as (cylinder) phonograph ...
