Re: PLA plastic Edison large carrier eye to small adapter

iirc it's a fireside B that has 2-4 gearing for some reason.
That's interesting but then nothing surprises me about the Edison company.

Good luck with your project.

Re: PLA plastic Edison large carrier eye to small adapter

Interesting project from an engineering point of view but isn't a B Fireside a four-minute only machine or is it a model A converted to play with the large diameter reproducers?

Society News

There used to be a section here called Society News where members of the various Phonograph and Gramophone Societies around the world could post details of their activities but it disappeared off the Forum about 18 months ago. Granted, it was mostly used by the APS and the CLPGS (City of London Phon...

Re: Two EMG's etc

There is viewing on Monday 10th May but it is by appointment only. I have requested an appointment to view but I don't expect to hear back until Tuesday at the earliest. I'm not in the market for an Opera myself (I'm lucky enough to own one already ) but would you, Epigramophone, like me to have a l...

Re: Edison Amberola III

Thanks George,

I suppose that makes sense, in an Edison kind of way!

Yes, the bed plate does say 1449 B 3.

Many thanks

Edison Amberola III

I have an Edison Amberola III serial no. 1449 which the ID Tag describes as a model B.

Any idea what the differences may be between a model A (if there was such a thing) and a model B?

Frow doesn't mention an A or B model and I can find nothing in the EPMs of the period.

Many thanks

Re: Interesting but anonymous machine.

It's a nice looking machine and located not far from me. I'm always suspicious, though, when a vendor says they don't know if it is working or not as that usually means it isn't. If it were working the vendor would surely say so and to say that he hasn't had time to get it going seems a bit lame. Th...

Re: Early Pathé model. Help?

It means 3 Pounds, 17 Shillings and 6 Pence, which is quite a lot considering an Edison Gem in 1904 would have only have cost 2 Pounds.

Yes indeed, it could be a "Diplomat"; these small Pathé machines are sometimes quite difficult to differentiate from one another.

Re: Early Pathé model. Help?

The Auctioneer described it as a "Pathé Perfecta". There are various "Perfecta" models and the nearest that I can find to yours is the Pathé Perfecta "LUXE" model - priced at a mere £3/17/6. This is from the September 1904 Pathé catalogue but it's not a very good copy I...
