Re: FS: Sonora Table Top
I don't think this is a Sonora table top model, the grill, tonearm/reproducer/brake and shape of the horn are nothing similar to a Sonora. I think someone just slapped a Sonora tag on a supplier off-brand.

Re: Starr tabletop project
Made by the Starr Piano company, it's a style(model) ½. I know it wasn't in their first lineup of machines, so it was introduced in 1917 and rebranded in 1922-1923 with a different tonearm before being pashed out completely in 1925. Since it has the swivel tonearm and standard reproducer I'd put it ...

Found:Assorted Vocalions
Hello everyone, I'm looking for a few particular Vocalions, if you have one you're willing to sell (or more than one) please let me know. I'd like to find as many from the same seller just to have a lower shipping cost, but these are some of my favorites. So if I have to get each from separate selle...

Re: My first talking machines and info on their restoration
You did a phenomenal job cleaning up the cabinet, be cautious with later 40s-50s records.
Acoustic machines aren't great with later 78s as they wear down faster and can over power the mica diaphragm. (They're designed mainly for acoustic records before the 1930s.)

Re: Starck Piano Company - Floor Model
(Photos would help.) Most machines of the late teens through the early 20s used a swivel tonearm design to accommodate lateral/vertical records. The pot metal has probably swollen over time, you'll have to stick it in the freezer for awhile then put penetrating oil to try and make it come apart. Don...
