Re: Best source for Victor springs?

Searching the twelve years or so of posts will confirm that it is good to change both springs out at once. Keeps them from being out of balance--one strong one weak--and causing a few problems. While you're in there it's not a bad idea to swap the governor springs as well. Check for SimpleLifers (Br...

Re: Orthoponic and orthophonic styles machines

At one time I had the Credenza as well as the 810. Both were good but like many others here I thought it had a slight edge on the Credenza in sound quality. Fast forward to today. I have been playing many records on the Edison William and Mary Console some of which I made videos of. I do have quite...

Re: Columbia n.120a: help needed to save it!

The only thing different than restoring a regular gramophone is going to be just finding a spare lid--Looks like a fine start. The Viva-Tonal Columbia reproducer, plano-reflex tonearm, and strong-running motor are going to be one of the best-sounding table gramophones you can get.

Re: Interesting off brand in Providence Forge, VA

It was "the kind I think it is" and the kind is almost identical to the Castle Grand, by the Biggs Record Player Company. Pictures of curvy horn are involved. This machine was built in Richmond, Virginia, and as a Southern-built phonograph it's a very interesting piece for all those born o...

Re: The Phonograph Shop Update

Mr & Mrs Parlier-- Thank you for doing this. I'm glad the Sitko parts empire is still around, and that the C.A.M.P.S. is now going to be the parts dealers for much of the hobby. Some of the parts Ron made that were pretty neat--I loved the aluminum pulley he had for the Edison Home. It's a solid...

Re: Interesting off brand in Providence Forge, VA

If this is the kind I think it is--the horn is bigger than it looks & the lid can be the sound reflector.

I love it. That thing looks awesome.

Re: WANTED: Standard Talking Machine Discs

There is also a conversion turntable that will play any older 78s on a Standard. This seller always makes good parts & I bet he could make a few more of them. https://www.ebay.com/sch/ladanjus/m.html?item=324746581346&hash=item4b9c679562%3Ag%3AXdsAAOSwqJZhEZQ%7E&rt=nc&_trksid=p204767...

Re: curious on prices of Edison C-2

oh, there isn't one in specific, I'm just trying to gauge if I can save up for one or not. You can save up for anything you want depending on how much time you're willing to put into waiting, how much money you make, and how badly you want it--also, depends on what condition you want it in. I got p...

Re: Amberola DX

fireside A for sale you say? Yes--cygnet, K reproducer, & Model A 2/4 gearing. But I've had no buyers at $850 so am considering just keeping the machine & building a bigger collection. I think the cygnet increases the price enough for it to not be worth it- you might as well buy a Fireside ...
