Re: Phonospace (or, "Where's Waldo?)

I haven't been super active on the T.M.F. lately but here's my recently put together corner. A shelf full of vintage books, oil lamp, telephone, a chair pulled out of the alley, and a Panatrope 15-8. The most expensive thing here was the old Brunswick at $40--after restoration it totals up to around...

Re: FOR SALE: Edison Fireside A w cygnet now $850

lol, eBay prices for anything is ridiculous. You should see how much brass Orthophonic reproducers are going for I know they're ridiculous, but they're selling them for that on that site. I was waiting a bit here and if nobody bites, I'll turn there perhaps & see what happens. Just because it s...

Re: FOR SALE: Victor III- CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE

For reference the Victor III on display in the Vintage Radio & Communications Museum up here in Windsor, CT, is in comparable condition and has a No. 2 reproducer instead of the correct Exhibition.

Re: FOR SALE: Edison Fireside A w cygnet now $850

woah, what a deal! This ought to sell soon at that price. A lot of people on here already own Firesides, and this could possibly save the buyer a bit to finish the reproducer rebuild. I left it in 4m mode (the 2m bar is included with it) because I have some problems rebuilding the K reproducer. $12...

Re: Edison Standard Model B

I found this video too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8ao-VUTfv8&ab_channel=WyattM I have seen a lot of posts by Wyatt M before. This looks very professional. The only question - in either case - sewing or gluing - how much length do I leave extra, because my Standard has the tensioner pulle...

Re: Edison Standard Model B

Oh no.. received my new bracket (excellent!) and belt..... which I have to put together myself. My understanding is that it is not a good idea to glue it, so I am going to try and sew it together after determining the required length... My guess is that the thread should be polyester or nylon? http...

Re: Victor VV-R-80

A surviving example of this strange and wonderful machine may be seen on the second floor of the Johnson Victrola Museum in Dover, Delaware. The Victrola horn serves as the "loudspeaker," driven by a horn-driver mounted where the tonearm bracket goes. The motorboard is fitted with radio co...

Re: Fireside - Great for "restoration"

This, at a tenth of the price, would be quite fun for someone who wants to go the full mile and make a machine like new. Sandblast it all, electroplate the nickel plated parts, repaint and re-decal the motorboard, rebuild that K reproducer, replace + regrease the spring, etc. A lot of people might ...

Re: Looking for an exterior horn disc machine for my preacher cousin.

He'll be back, it's Mr. Bufalini. I second the idea of the Standard A. The JAS Antiques turntable will swap in to the original & let it play conventional 78s. Also, Columbia BN's are nice-- Honestly though, for more fun, I'd suggest internal-horn phonographs & using the extra money for recor...
