Re: Project: Molded rubber Columbia flanges

I’d buy 2 or 3.

I don’t think anyone has tried this before. Good luck!

Re: Pathé phonograph “Orpheus” attachment

These are maddening because they are so often missing. The idea of combing French ebay for a loose one is a good idea, and I’ve personally had success with that approach. I’ve also seen homemade solutions, which are not to hard to create functionally, but not as easy cosmetically. All you need is th...

Re: Lambert cylinder research

Well, I decided to let you hear it, and just made a quick video for that purpose. https://youtu.be/I7qxfxHIkCs Sadly, it’s displaying the video sideways. I’ll redo it using my better mic and after realigning the camera. The frequency response for the lower notes is pretty remarkable and I want to ma...

Re: FOR SALE:Wurlitzer Model 60 Radio Wind-Up Phonograph INQUIRE

Condition is hugely important. So if it’s complete, original, and beautiful, that makes a big difference.

Post some photos here and that will help.

Even if perfect, as an “off-brand” there is also some lowering of value, so I think it’s important to keep expectations manageable.

Re: Rubber tube between reproducer and horn

Does anyone have an original source (in other words, where do the dealers get it) for this stuff? A lot of mine are cracked or incorrect or just plain gone, so I’d like to buy 10’ or so of it. That would probably be a lifetime supply.

Thanks.

Re: Timestep reproducer vs recording acoustically

Ok for that kind of deal, perhaps the easiest way is to find high quality recordings online at the archives or YouTube and compile them, then fill any gaps with the acoustic method. You can get a good quality mic, with USB interface, to record directly to your mac or peecee and avoid that cassette s...

Re: Timestep reproducer vs recording acoustically

Depends on what you are trying to accomplish. Most cylinders are already available online through the various archives, recorded and cleaned up better than you probably can do. If you want to hear all the music on the record, play it electronically. If you want the authentic experience, play it acou...
