Just enough, plus a bit more.

Re: What’s old is new again: the cure!

Of course the timing of the photo is off by a few years. I also may have slightly embellished the recipe on the reverse. But the synchronicity of the “ingredients” shown then, with what some people are actually doing now, was just too sweet to pass up.

What’s old is new again: the cure!

Found this photo, from around the time of the last big pandemic. Scratched in pencil on the back was the recipe for the cure, using the ingredients available in the shop per the signage, offered there at the time. Not much different now in some parts of this great land, other than perhaps replacing ...

Just ask your dentist for any surplus used or broken tools, and the odds are high that you will be given some!

Re: For Sale: VE 8-60 E in Roseburg, Or $550

It’s too new, and sounds too good, for Jerry. These are the best of both worlds; a true hybrid. The amps are quite easy to fix and the pickup is cheap to rebuild. The usual weak point is the air valve and its linkages and gearing, but the valve lever being intact might tell us that this machine migh...

This is a major find, and it’s worth the effort and expense to acquire it. Remember, Brother Jerry’s Delivery Service is already there!

Re: Victor Type Z (fixer upper)

The person that got it immediately threw it up on eBay. No cleanup or reconfiguration of the incorrect parts, etc. Seller’s name on eBay includes the word “radio” so likely not as knowledgeable about phonos. But this price realized ($700) is stupidly amazing! https://www.ebay.com/itm/Victor-Z-Phonog...

Re: VV8-9 Found on Facebook Marketplace

I might be a victim of brain fog. This would, of course, be the first time ever. Like I said, mine is long gone, but I thought quite strongly that I remembered it having the burnished bronze (or whatever it’s actually called) finish on the hardware. But then I realized I’m possibly confusing it with...

Re: VV8-9 Found on Facebook Marketplace

Interesting! Let’s get the serial numbers please? We may be able to detect when the switch was made. I don’t have mine anymore and don’t know the s/n. Baumbach’s Victor Data Book says there were a little over 9000 shipped (8143 spring plus 994 electric), with the serial #s starting at 501. They woul...

Re: VV8-9 Found on Facebook Marketplace

Congratulations! One of the best all round orthophonics. The reproducer that shipped with it was indeed pot metal. Count the number of holes, which is the giveaway. If this is all-original and from the family that owned it since new, it would have a pot metal bodied reproducer, in that late-20s burn...
