Thanks! It's true! Victor 18666... Curiously, I knew that song since a kid. My father had the Chet Atkins version on the fabulous RCA lp. I loved it.
I never listened again to that song (except on the Chet version) until I bought the Margaret Young version, thirty five years later!

Only one thing... those unsleeved records in vertical position on your shelves are going to give disappointment.. they tend to slide out and fall on the floor at the slightest provoocation. Be careful. Better: sleeve them! Or find a place to put them horizon...

Re: Exhibition rubber flange DIY

So the solution is nitrile rubber? I think I can try a hardware store and look for rubber washers (well, rubber-like) in the plumbing/gardening sections, to see what is currently available. I'll try the softness to see what suits better. I'm always thinking of the two big screws that hold the rubber...

Not in the same league, but this happens to me with "Oh By Jiingo", one of my favourite acoustic recordings... I have it on victor batwing, I believe it's Ada Jones alone.

Re: Another large Apollo on UK eBay.

Indeed a serious machine. If the horn is as magnifically designed as the one we saw recently, it should sound very well. The soundbox looks like one of those Thorens-Paillard, which sound very well. The connection at the neeedlebar fulcrum is by means of a thin flexible copper plate, attached by two...

Re: My new addition: the credenza

WHen you investigate the leaks and grease and tight everything here and there, you should find the volume is strong when playing dance band records, Victor orthophonics and so on... Medium steel needles should give a high volume, indeed. I believe many of us use soft steel needles when playing these...
