Re: HMV 101....identification

I suspect these were early versions of the carrying handle, my brown one had exactly the same handle of thin leather and the same fittings. No doubt the grey one lost its handle, and someone fitted a new leather strip. Mine also was badly worn, they are weak for that weight!

Re: Have you ever seen such a simple beautiful label?

Those are very beautiful too! :)the pink Columbia in the flesh is similar to that Gramophone Voi Che sapete. It's a very bright satin pink. Probably my taste for the Spanish Columbia label lies in its intrínsec beauty and also in the misterious and romantic idea I have about that enterprise, whose s...

Have you ever seen such a simple beautiful label?

This is not a very complex label, with beautiful drawings... It's simply the beautiful simple Spanish Columbia label of the early forties. It came with golden lettering over a simple label in colors blue, black, bright green, red and, yes, a bright satin gorgeous pink! I've always loved the simple b...

Re: Victor Victrola XVI in It's A Wonderful Life?

And that reccrod label? Seems one of those records made in a recording machine (recordio or something) as it seems to have those three holes in a triangle. wonderful1 (2).jpeg Later, when Mary takes the record and breaks it against the machine corner, the label seems different: Picture-20.png BTW, t...

Turntable height over motorboard - a personal appreciation

In the fabulous range of machines, there are different heights of the platter over the motorboard. And here goes my personal appreciation... I hate machines with a high platter, I believe this fact gives the machine a lousy look, kind of sensation of misadjustment. When I see one of those machines, ...

I'm very sensitive to broken tin tabs... It must be a trauma since childhood... I was always disassembling things and toys... And how many I broke!

A decal design that seems a reminiscence of the Belle Epoque!

Re: Rare Beatles 78

They were mostly singles that were in fashion, produced also on 78, and the fascinating thing is that it includes some old recordings from the 1930s that were still very popular... Pressed in the finest 1962 Spanish shellac compound!

Re: 2 Kinephones ! - Reproductions ??

There's an enormous business and market in oxidizing all sorts of things to make them look old! I've seen it in the flea market and in more serious businesses, for disgrace and shame! Even they blow furniture with wood sticks that have protruding nails, to imitate old woodworm holes in newly made fu...
