Re: OPERA REPRODUCERS

I understand all the technical reasons, and appreciate the comments so far, but I guess my original question was not phrased exactly as to what I was thinking. In my experience, the collecting community is divided between machine and record enthusiasts. Most people collect phonographs and rarely pla...

Re: OPERA REPRODUCERS

Yes, I understand the reason Diamond A's were made, but since they are actually less versatile, why do they command a premium?

OPERA REPRODUCERS

Edison Operas can use an “L” reproducer, or a “Diamond A”. Common knowledge seems to be that the L is for wax, and the A is for Blue Amberols. Yet, when I play a Blue Amberol with an L, I cannot discern any less fidelity than with an A. I have asked many experts, and come up with as many opinions. M...

Re: A SHOUT OUT TO RICH GORDON

What was the method? Curt, Rich used everything from adding extra cotton inside the tubes, shrink wrapping each cylinder, peanuts, bubble wrap, etc. His combination of all of these, plus being well-spaced in a very sturdy carton, made damage almost impossible. The one unknown with shipping wax cyli...

Interesting comment. Grant is a well-known and respected seller with top-notch stuff. He is offering a rare item in top condition. If it is priced too high for your budget, why do you find it necessary to demean him?

FOR SALE: 2/4 COLUMBIA BG $1100

Offering this all-original 2/4 BG, with 6" mandrel. Comes with a correct 2/4 reproducer but no horn. Runs quietly and smoothly (4-spring motor) and sounds excellent. Needs a little cosmetic TLC. The rear of the case was previously drilled for a BGT setup, and the holes are still there. The lid ...
