Re: PAPER HORN "BALMAIN"

Wonderful to see it all together Alastair. Well done to you and Adrian. Interested to know what sort of weight there is on the needle and is there much difference between the start and finish of a record?

Re: An Expert Senior, posing for a portrait in the NPG

Looking at the last picture that Andy posted of the young PMD looking into the horn of his EMG, the turntable seems to be sitting at a strange angle. It appears to be tilted upwards towards the front. Any ideas or is it an optical illusion?

Re: The brief appearance of an HMV 31

I suppose it's academic as the lot was withdrawn, but it looks like the horn is on the table next to the base in your second set of pictures.

Re: PAPER HORN "BALMAIN"

Looking good, Adrian Tuddenham will be a great asset to the forum when he finally gets allowed in. As can been seen by Chunnys comment in the thread I had a similar problem earlier this year when I tried to join. There was a requirement for an answer but no question set if I remember correctly. It r...

Re: EMG Cheltenham

Looking at the auction website earlier on the day of the sale I noted that the current bid on the Expert was the same as the hammer price, so I guess that this may have been a commission bid direct with the action house and that no internet bids were received at the time of the lot which bears out w...

Re: FRANK JAMES 1940-2020

Works fine for me, thank you Chunny, a great service to the gramophone community.
I acquired my copy from Frank when he repaired the horn of my Mk VIII. He still had a stash at the time.
Have tried sending you e'mails Chunny but suspect they may be ending up in your spam folder.

Re: EMG Flyers

My ebay purchase arrived a couple of days ago and I have started on the overhaul. As can be seen in the following photographs the diaphragm is well and truly perforated, but I am really grateful that Chunny has generously said he is sending me a replacement. Judging by the gunge on the inside of the...

Re: PAPER HORN "BALMAIN"

A very ingenious idea Alastair. I have no idea how the sound reproduction would be affected, but I think the support arrangement and rod would have to be really robust as any slight downward deflection of the rod would result in the horn effectively having to be pushed uphill. Perhaps any support ra...
