Were these 4-7s ever sold this way or is this a "repair"?

https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1625336504343108/ VV 4-7.jpeg This is definitely an orthophonic 4-7 machine but with a regular Victrola tone-arm. Just a previous repair? I mean, these couldn't possibly have been sold this way could they? I have to imagine the geometry is all off for this...

Re: Victor VV 2-35

Oh, well then I'm good, there is no side play it is only front to back and very minimal. Yeah, that green paint makes it... unique. I'm falling in love with it though. I think I'll keep my eye out for a 2-55, these things are kind of fun though I don't think I'll have the same price-luck twice. I di...

Re: Victor VV 2-35

Does that stuff work better than wintergreen oil? I love how on the container it tells you to "wear rubber gloves". I bet they're soft when you're finished

Re: Victor VV 2-35

Well I removed the soundbox and wouldn't you know it? I found the remains of a broken needle still up inside the receptacle. I wondered why I couldn't fit a loud-tone needle in there. I carefully removed the busted needle and gave it another go. Maybe it's wishful thinking but I think it's better: h...

Re: Victor VV 2-35

Here's a video of the first diagnosis-playing with a medium tone needle. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SvO1C1SDFbc&ab_channel=AGarso It seems to have a bit of distortion which may be the soundbox or may be something loose down inside. I imagine those with more experienced ears can pinpoint the...

Re: Victor VV 2-35

Yeah, it does not look like it was ever meant to come apart or be serviced. I played it last night and it was pretty good but a little raspy on the loud parts. It's hard to know because it may have been the record. When I grabbed I thought I'd grabbed from the 'clean' pile but that wasn't the case. ...

Re: For Sale: Edison C-19 Parts

Interesting how fragile those were. I believe there is one good corner on this one, maybe two. I'll check when I get back. I'm hoping it's two because I can see myself destroying the first one trying to get at it but having better luck the second time ;) Just kidding, I'd be careful.

Well all I can say is that it truly pays to completely disassemble a machine. Found the crankshaft!
