Re: Cylinder Cabinet identification?

Congratulations Andy. Nice cabinet and nice find. Much better that the first one you looked at, and the tip down drawers is a great feature which sets a apart from being just another ordinary chest of drawers. I'd love to find something like that in Australia, but they are extremely rare here. Can I...

Re: WANTED: Shine On Harvest Moon by Ada Jones and Billy Murray.

I'm guessing this is one of those cylinders that anyone who has a copy enjoys listening to and won't want to sell unless they've got a duplicate copy. If it's a late issue 2 min record, it may prove hard to get too because they were made from the same formula as 4 min Amberols which can self destruc...

Re: Edison Fireside Model B (Maybe??)

Did it's bedplate hinge with the two screws on the back corners of the bedplate like a Fireside does? No, it's hinged at the front and rear on the right hand side of the bedplate, the same as an Amberola 1a/b. In the picture below that I pulled off the internet, you can see the gold rods that act a...

Re: Edison Fireside Model B (Maybe??)

My apologies. I got my III and VIII mixed up
The III did indeed use the Opera motor

I'll edit my post above

Re: Edison Fireside Model B (Maybe??)

Amberola VIII was fitted with Gem and Fireside works (after the Edison factory fire if I remember correctly), so I think someone has pulled the motor etc from an Amberola VIII cabinet and mounted it in a Fireside cabinet. I'm pretty sure if this had started life as an external horn machine the data ...

Re: Putting belt back on my Triumph E

A Luke warm iron with the belt between blotting paper should draw most of the oil out. You don't want to crease the belt so you'd just use the tip (point) of the iron, and work your way around on the inside surface. Be careful at the join too because the heat could soften whatever adhesive was used ...

Re: Question on Amberola 1-A Problem

These weren't made to take blue Amberols so I'll think you'll find 2&4 min wax cylinder boxes will fit. My drawers have the metal clips and I've found because they don't hold BA boxes securely, the boxes move and jam on the drawer above, but a lot of my BA boxes are very slightly taller than wax...

Re: Pathé Phonograph Late Oval Horn - $150

This machine appears to be capable of playing Pathé 20" discs, or pretty close to it.
Do you know what is the largest disc size this will play?
Such a shame if this does get parted out.

Actually you can record on a 1a, 1b or Opera using the recording attachment below.
If I remember correctly one was sold here in the Yankee Traders section only a couple months ago.
